#DESIGNFORHEALTH – BLACK+BLUM MEETS BLOGGER, JEN STANBROOK

As a part of our #DesignforHealth campaign, this February, we are lucky enough to be working with some of the countries most exciting lifestyle bloggers.

One of our collaborations is with LoveChicLiving’s, Jen Stanbrook.  Jen’s has won awards for her blog every year since she started writing her blog in 2012!  The UK home and interior writer has an insatiable love of home decor, interior design, home accessories and home styling and her sharp, colourful, stylish and contemporary way with homeware really strikes a chord with us and has made her a firm favourite of the Black + Blum team for a while, so we couldn’t resist contacting Jen to work with us on our #DesignforHealth campaign to help us style our lunch box products a little differently, so we could show you how beautiful Black + Blum products can look as a part of a stylish kitchen.

Jen’s daughter has also recently started a vegan diet and they are enjoying the journey towards healthier eating together.  It’s a challenge catering for a family with a variety of eating habits – from full carnivore, through to committed vegan, so the flexibility that the Black + Blum products provide, with the separate source pots and dividing sections will be really useful.

Jen says on her About Me page: “I love great design, innovative products, colour and drama. My personal style is modern and contemporary”, so we can’t wait to see how she’s going to style and shoot our Eau Good bottles, stainless steel water bottles, thermos flask and sandwich box!

Ahead of our collaboration with her, we caught up with Jen to ask her some questions about her blogging:

What is your most memorable moment of your blogging career so far?

Well there are quite a few to be honest, but the one that stands out is the Design Tour to Spain in 2016. I spend a week touring Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid with the Spanish Design Agency, and a group of International journalists and bloggers. A truly memorable experience!

What impact has blogging had on your life / career?

Well blogging has totally and completely changed my life, and the life of my family too. In 5 years we’ve been able to add a solid second income to our household with two young children, and I’ve been able to work from home too. It’s given me flexibility, opportunity, diversity and multiple challenges. I’ve won awards, met some amazing people, travelled Europe and developed a small business, all from pretty much nothing except a love for my subject, and a lot of hard work!

How do you stay inspired about interiors?

Great question, I guess I just do! If you love something deep down, and it’s part of who you are, you’re just inspired every day by the things you see and the content you create. I read homes magazines, hunt Pinterest, follow some very stylish Instagrammers and bloggers and try to stay ahead of the game as much as possible.

Is there anything in the interiors world at the moment that is really exciting you?

I love how there’s a shift to trying more colour. Not everyone has pale, neutral walls anymore and it just makes our homes so much more interesting. Even if you do love a light backdrop, there’s more colour around generally, and that’s a good thing.

What do you think is going to be a big trend this year?

Maximalism! I think there’s going to be a real push to embracing colour, pattern and print. Of course some will always love their Scandi minimalism, but we’re going to see many more people experimenting with an over the top mix of patterns, deep rich colours and lots and lots of plants.

Jen is going to be working with us to style our products in her own home.  We can’t wait to see how she applies her style to our Box Appetit products!
